Night Network

During the day, the high demand of traffic increases significantly the complexity. That is why the route structure and procedures are adapted to reduce it.
During the day outside these peak periods and at night, the route structure is not readapted to simplify the network, and only some of the procedures are simplified. On the other hand, in order to provide the shortest route and best service, it is mostly during those periods that ATCOs provide all the possible directs. This does not give us the full benefits, since companies, for flight planning purposes, must continue to use the existing route network, which also increases fuel consumption and emissions. The night network allows companies to plan authorized direct routing by night time. It simplifies and shortens routes a lot compared to daily network. This means, they also can re-plan their fuel consumption and thus reduce the CO2 emissions accordingly.
