Airspace Redesign
Airspace Strategy
In January 2012, FABEC ANSPs agreed on one operational free route concept. Best practices such as the night network and the initial implementation of Free Route Airspace structure in Maastricht and Karlsruhe were taken on board, examined by operational experts and streamlined to one overall operational concept valid for the whole FABEC Free Route Airspace.
Project CBA Land / Central West
The key to achieving the operational performance level required by the EU is to find joint solutions for existing bottlenecks. They are mainly located at the intra-FABEC boundaries where dense traffic flows and military requirements collide. One of these bottlenecks will now be solved thanks to the FABEC Project CBA Land/Central West.
XMAN
FABEC’s main focus is on en-route services. However, in fact, aircraft start their descent to their destination airport as early as 200 Nautical Miles from the metering fix. To guarantee smart flying into the arrival TMA, he controller needs to pre-sequence the traffic in the upstream sectors by providing things such as speed instructions. That is why FABEC launched the XMAN-project.
